The Cornelius Arts Center, located at 19725 Oak Street in the historic Oak Street Mill in Cornelius features an eclectic exhibition of fiber and mixed-media works, entitled, "Interwoven" through July 10. These photos are from the special exhibition preview and opening on Friday, June 12., featuring artists Bev Nagy and Karla Clay Chamber. The Exhibit is produced by The Creative Art Exchange, a non-profit arts education organization dedicated to inspiring creativity and building community through art. The Creative Art Exchange partners with The Children's Arts Project and the Town of Cornelius, through its Department of Parks, Arts, Recreation & Culture (PARC), to offer a variety of arts camps, classes, workshops, events and gallery exhibits. Interwoven features the work of Karla Clay Chambers, a clay artist originally from Milwaukee Wisconsin. Her work represents a special technique that involves intricately weaving hand-rolled coils of clay into exciting forms. Karla Clay Chambers has award-winning pieces that have been exhibited in galleries nationally and in Europe. She resides in Waxhaw, North Carolina with her husband and two sons. Bev Nagy, a resident of North Carolina for 16 years, is currently a resident artist at The McColl Center for Visual Art in historic NoDa. She is a mixed media artist who pushes the boundaries of transitional basketry and sculpture.
